It is sad, but Some doctors still resistant to diversity even between them. Two incident catch my attention. The first one was a patient that was refer to a Hispanic doctor do the type of illness. The doctor of the same specialty complain to another doctor that the reason they give it to him was because He was not Hispanic.
Reality was that the Hispanic one was more competent then the other doctor. The second case was Hindu doctor who make a mistake was furious because He had to come
back and fix it. The nurse was Hindu too. I was in charge and tell the nurse that He has to come. Well on my round the doctor had corner the nurse and was talking strong in Hindu to the nurse. I interrupt and ask if every thing was ok. She look like she was not. The doctor left, and I ask the nurse what happen, she verbalized that the doctor tell her to remember her place, that just because she was in US that does not mean she can act like an American woman. Then prosses to down grade the American woman. I could not do anything because she do not let me. She was afraid of what happen at the church where she go. Well as good nurse I need it my revenge, so I let the staff know what happen making his life not so easy. One good thing happen, a doctor fine out and they let him know and he is doing s better job now with the staffing.
